Kristina Cousen, the daughter of a Blacksmith and Farrier, grew up in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, spending as much time as possible in her Fathers working forge surrounded by the buzz and creativity of Master Craftsmen.
Her interest in flowers started at the tender age of six, when Kristina was top of her Covent Schools truancy list, much preferring to spend her time riding horses bare back through the fields and woods picking wild flowers that she would then put in jam jars for sale outside the forge.
Having survived the 60's and the Punk Era, Kristina then spent several years travelling and working in Europe and the USA, where her son was at school. After a six month stint in Morroco she returned home to find the garden had been taken over by ivy, covering the walls and trees. A chance conversation concerning the forsaid ivy led her to a leading London florist and the captivating world of floristry....Kristina was hooked and took herself of to Floristry College for the next two and some years, funding her way by selling foliages to florists in the capital city. She then went to The Netherlands, threw out the rule book and really got to grips with her new found love...flowers.
After several years freelancing in London, for the florists she had originally supplied with foliage, who were now firm friends! and also in Ireland, |

Canada and France we can fast forward to 1999 and The Blacksmiths Daughter Florist opened its doors in Petersfield Hampshire. Kristina had £300.00 and five buckets! however she quickly established a very loyal fan base of returning customers both locally and nationwide.
In 2007 The Blacksmiths Daughter, who by now had a select team of passionate and knowledgable florists on the payroll was accredited as a Master Florist. Kristina has gone on to teaching in schools and frequently runs workshops throughout the year.
Keeping her favorite William Morris quotation in mind ' have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful ', Kristina satisfies her love of travel with regular buying trips to Europe sourcing the fabulous, beautiful and unusual...be in containers, pots and vases or flowers and plants.
